On Trend! The Mullet Hem Dress!

Coral Waterfall

The edgiest and most eye-catching trend of the season is definitely the mullet dress. What makes it stand out is the uneven hem which is short in the front and long in the back (hence the name), and the light fabric and sheer overlays make this dress a must have this season. It is the perfect weather- appropriate alternative to last season’s maxi dress or maxi skirt. The short front hem can show your figure and good stature whilst being elegant and the longer back can also satisfy your girly side with the romantic trailing.

New York Fashion Week Spring 2012

Fishtail dresses, jokingly referred to as mullet dresses for their short-in-front long-in-back hem, were another repeat trend for Spring 2012. From Vera Wang's futuristic cut-out dress to J. Mendel's faux-wrap numbers with showcasing bold contrast linings, designers are favouring the new artistic cut this season.

Miley Cyrus looked absolutely amazing in this orange creation from Jenny Packham’s SS12 collection. It’s nice to see Miley continue to channel her bohemian style, and the mullet hem really emphasises her lovely figure.

Cheryl Cole

Cheryl would look amazing in a bin bag, but slip her in a £25,000 specially designed Julien McDonald dress and she really does look stunning.
